Freed AI is an ambient clinical documentation tool founded in 2022 by former Meta engineers Erez Druk and Andrey Bannikov, and backed by $34 million in funding including a $30 million Series A led by Sequoia Capital. The platform captures live session audio — in-person, telehealth, or phone — and generates structured clinical notes in 40–60 seconds. It is used by 26,000+ clinicians across 1,300+ clinics and has processed nearly 3 million patient visits per month.

The platform's self-learning AI observes how each clinician edits its generated notes and adapts future outputs to match individual documentation preferences — reducing the editing burden over time. Freed supports custom templates, specialty-specific pre-built formats, patient instruction letters, referral letters, ICD-10 and CPT code suggestions, and E/M level generation. A Chrome extension enables one-click note transfer to any web-based EHR; native EHR push is available on the Premier plan.

Freed is HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2 Type I and Type II certified. All data is stored on US-based Microsoft Azure infrastructure under a HIPAA BAA. Audio is automatically deleted after note completion; AI is trained only on de-identified notes, never on patient PHI. While Freed works across all specialties, its note formats are primarily SOAP-based — therapists who require DAP, BIRP, or other psychotherapy-specific formats will find fewer native options than mental-health-focused competitors.
